Week 3

Week 3

First week of Instructing Classes

Land Navigation was the main topic covered in my Military Science class this week. The first class was conducted at the ROTC office at DePaul University. Started the class by introducing myself and then having the students introduce themselves. Once we introduced ourselves I conducted a review from last week. This way I could asses their knowledge on the topic, since I did not teach them last week. After the review I proceeded with teaching the next portion. I finished the class with a practical exercise.

Once again I introduced myself and had the students introduce themselves in my second class, which was in the Quinlan Building at Loyola. Both classes had briefly covered Land Navigation in the 100 level course last year. This is why I had given the second class a quiz on last weeks lesson. Even though they did not receive it. This way I was able to once again focus on the parts that the students did not know. I then gave the second class the same practical exercise as my first class.

This weeks Lab was conducted at DePaul University and focused on team building. The cadets had four challenges set up and rotated to each throughout the morning. One example of the challenges they conducted was the human knot. This is where you have several people holding hands and intertwined together. They need to work together in order to untangle themselves. The ROTC cadets finished the week off by taking a physical fitness test at North Park University. The test consist of timed push-ups and sit-ups as well as a 2 mile run.
The ROTC cadets taking the PT test and being graded by myself as well as others from my unit.
